Students are responsible for their registration. This includes verifying academic requirements for their programs, deadlines for initial enrollment and changes to schedules.
Students are encouraged to carefully review their Current and Future Classes in their Workday Academics Hub, verifying they are registered for the correct sections, the appropriate grading basis, and the right number of units (in variable unit courses). Potential discrepancies or requests for clarification about registration should be submitted to the relevant department or school promptly.
In limited circumstances, students may be approved for an exception to a registration policy or process. Requests for exceptions are scrutinized closely and must involve significant extenuating circumstances. Before submitting a request, students should familiarize themselves with basic registration procedures as well as the policies of their school and program. No requests will be considered for prior semesters.
Requests for the following exceptions may be submitted* using the form linked below:
- Missed registration deadline (add, drop, withdraw, grade option change)
- Missed waitlist notification
- Request to change waitlist position
- Course Load Policy
- Register above the maximum allowed threshold
- Drop below the required minimum threshold
- Enrollment access to course outside of home school
- Time conflict
Requests are routed to a student’s school for review. (Time conflict exception requests are routed to the Office of the Provost.) Decisions once issued are final.
*Law students are not permitted to request exceptions to missed waitlist notifications or their position on the waitlist, register for classes with time conflicts or exceed their maximum credit limits.
To request an exception, please submit the Student Registration Exceptions Form.
