The Office of the University Registrar is responsible for certifying to the Department of Veterans Affairs the enrollment of students on the Danforth Campus of Washington University in St. Louis who are using Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefits.
Students and prospective students should email their questions and documentation to VAcertifications@wustl.edu.
Certification for students of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is handled by the Registrar’s Office at the School of Medicine.
The VA determines eligibility for education benefits. Veterans, active duty and their dependents should apply for benefits online.

Please note: if you are eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill at 100% you may also be eligible for Yellow Ribbon Benefits.
Documentation Required
If approved for benefits by the VA, you should request a Certificate of Eligibility be sent to you. A Certificate of Eligibility is required in order to certify your enrollment at WashU.
- Active duty must provide a copy of a Certificate of Eligibility.
- A dependent must provide a copy of a Certificate of Eligibility.
- A veteran must provide a copy of a Certificate of Eligibility and DD214.
Requirements for Using your Benefits
- Students must be enrolled in an approved degree or certificate program.
- Only courses required for the enrolled degree/certificate will be certified.
- Audited courses will not be certified.
- Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress to continue to use their benefits.
- Students pending admission to an approved program must be enrolled in courses that are applicable to the program to which they are applying.
